Cartier Enameled Gold Cigar Band Ring

Cartier Enameled Gold Cigar Band Ring

Cigar bands, a loop of paper or foil wrapped around the body of a cigar, was used to advertise a brand or variety of tobacco. Gustave Bock, a European immigrant to Cuba, is credited with its creation in 1830 and since then the use of colorfully and creatively designed bands have accelerated in popularity making them an American collectible.

These inspirational cigar band designs were memorialized by Cartier with this red enamel and 18K yellow gold iconic ring. With a center portrait surrounded by the name of the Corona Corona Habana cigar, this circa 1970's vintage ring is both stylish and whimsical. Signed Cartier. Size 6 1/4.
